What this notice covers
This notice is about the marketing site only. Accounts, search, alerts, summaries, and payments happen on app.youvebeenmentioned.com. That site has its own handling of account data, and this notice does not cover it.
A button on this site can pass the page you were on, which button you used, and any campaign parameters already in the address bar. What the app does with those parameters is part of the app, not this notice.
What we use, and why
We do not sell personal data. Nothing on this site is used to make an automated decision about you.
Your cookie choice. When you accept, reject, or save a custom choice, we store it in a first-party cookie named ybm_consent. It holds the version of the choice, whether analytics is on, whether session replay is on, and the time you chose. We need it to remember that you already decided, including a decision to say no. It is kept for 180 days. The lawful basis is that the cookie is strictly necessary to honour your choice.
Analytics, if you allow it. Google Analytics 4 and PostHog record the pages you open, a rough location derived from your IP address, your device and browser, and the buttons and sections you use. We also keep the campaign parameters from the link that opened this tab, in session storage for that tab only, and add them to links into the app. The lawful basis is consent. Reject, or leave the banner unanswered, and none of this runs.
Session replay, if you allow it. PostHog can record the visit: the pages, the mouse, the scroll, and the clicks. Text typed into a field is masked. This site has no account form. Replay is a separate choice from analytics, and it stays off unless you turn it on. The lawful basis is consent.
Hosting. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub receives your IP address and user agent in ordinary server logs so the page can be delivered and the host can be kept secure. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running the site. A request has to send an IP address to the host. You can object, and we will explain what we can and cannot stop.
Who receives it
We use three processors for this site.
- PostHog, on its EU cloud at eu.i.posthog.com, for product analytics and, if you allow it, session replay. The analytics cookie is limited to this website. It is not shared with the app.
- Google, for Google Analytics 4. Google processes that data in the United States. The transfer relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the UK extension to it, and on standard contractual clauses where those apply.
- GitHub, as the host of this site. Hosting logs can be processed in the United States.
The list of cookies, who sets them, and how long they last is on the cookie page.
How long we keep it
The consent cookie and the analytics cookies last 180 days. Campaign parameters last until you close the tab, and only after you allow analytics. We configure Google Analytics to keep events for 2 months. Session recordings are kept for the shortest period our PostHog project allows.
Your rights
You can withdraw consent at any time. Cookie settings in the footer opens the same choice as the banner. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that happened while it was in place. After you withdraw, we stop analytics and replay and clear the storage those tools set.
You can ask for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, erase it, or restrict it, and you can object to processing that uses legitimate interests. Email adam@youvebeenmentioned.com.
This site does not identify you, so we usually cannot find one anonymous visit later. The analytics identifier, if you allowed analytics, lives in your browser rather than against your name. If you write to us, tell us when you visited and, if you still have it, the identifier in your browser. We will delete what we can find in PostHog and Google Analytics.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Children
This site is written for people who work in PR and communications. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
This notice was last updated on 19 October 2026. Changes are posted on this page. If the choice we ask for changes, the cookie version changes and the banner is shown again.
