What is podcast monitoring?
Podcast monitoring is a search of the spoken audio in an episode for a brand, a person, a product, a competitor, or a topic. You've Been Mentioned transcribes podcast episodes as they publish. The search covers 150,000+ podcasts and YouTube channels. A mention is the unedited sentence that was said, the show, and the timestamp. Sentiment is marked positive, negative, or neutral.
Each podcast mention includes:
| You get | What it is |
|---|---|
| Quote | The sentence that was said. Never reworded. |
| Show | The podcast that said it. |
| Timestamp | Where in the episode it was said. |
| Sentiment | Positive, negative, or neutral. |
A host, a guest, or a paid host-read is a mention. The quote is that transcript sentence.
Text monitoring reads the written page. It never hears the episode. We aim to surface a mention within minutes of the episode being published. Processing times vary by source. Podcasts and YouTube are the sources. TikTok, Twitch, and Kick are not. TikTok is on the roadmap.
How do I get told when a new episode mentions me?
Save the search as a tracker and turn on the moments that should email you. When a new episode matches, that alert goes to you. Every match from one check arrives in one email. You set the gap between alerts, from 30 minutes to 24 hours. Alerts require a subscription.
Office hours hold that email until your window opens. Mentions outside the types you turned on wait for one summary, daily or weekly. The weekly summary arrives on Monday at 9am, including on the free tier.
The moments you can turn on:
- Critical feedback. When someone expresses frustration, criticism, or pushback.
- Comparisons. When someone compares options, peers, rivals, or alternatives.
- Suggestions and requests. When someone suggests improvements, changes, or new ideas.
- Endorsements. When someone strongly praises or endorses the subject.
- First mention. When a new podcast or YouTube channel mentions your keywords.
- Mention spike. When mention volume jumps versus the prior period.
- Any mention. On every matching keyword mention.
